LG’s 27EA83Monitor Has been Honored with One of the Imaging Industry’s Highest Accolades

Front view of LG ColorPrime Monitor model 27EA83 with a 2013 TIPA Awards logo on the right side.

SEOUL, May 6, 2013 ㅡ LG Electronics (LG) announced that its ColorPrime (27EA83) monitor has been named the “Best Photo Monitor” of 2013 by the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA). Ideal for filmmakers, photographers and graphics professionals, LG’s award-winning monitor features In-Plane Switching (IPS) display technology, an incredibly high resolution and a wide color palette.

“We are truly honored to receive TIPA recognition for our ColorPrime monitor,” said Il-geun Kwon, senior vice president of LG Electronics’ IT Business Unit. “This imaging industry honor reaffirms the exceptional qualities of LG’s advanced graphics powerhouse. With wide quad high definition (WQHD) resolution and sophisticated calibration, the ColorPrime offers unrivalled visual accuracy required for detailed graphics and imaging work. LG will continue to produce the most technologically advanced monitors available, taking picture quality to dazzling new heights.”

The LG ColorPrime delivers astounding picture quality, boasting the incredible clarity of WQHD (2560×1440) resolution and the ability to accurately reproduce 99 percent of the Adobe RGB color space. This monitor can also be quickly rotated 90 degrees, enabling users to choose the screen orientation that best suits the specific demands of their work. Each ColorPrime monitor is factory calibrated and comes with a certificate confirming that it has been fine-tuned by an LG imaging expert. To further ensure consistent and accurate color performance, LG also offers hardware calibration including an external color calibrator that has been optimized to LG’s monitor.

The ColorPrime monitor achieves true-to-life picture quality thanks to LG’s advanced IPS display technology, which also helps to reduce user eyestrain. With an impressive 178 degree viewing angle, image quality and color fidelity remains consistent, regardless of where the viewer is positioned. What’s more, the 4-Screen Split and Dual Link-Up features take multitasking to the next level. 4-Screen Split divides the ColorPrime’s display into four segments, which can then be arranged into a variety of useful configurations. LG’s clever Dual Link-Up function makes it possible for users to work with files or programs from two different devices at the same time. In short, the ColorPrime monitor is a comprehensive imaging solution for filmmakers, photographers, designers and other graphics industry professionals.

TIPA, which comprises 29 member magazines from 13 different countries, is one of the most influential photographic and imaging press associations in the world. Its members convene annually to vote on the best products of the year, assessing each device based on a number of criteria including technological and design innovation, ease-of-use, and value for money. The TIPA awards are comprised of 40 separate categories with only one winner being announced for each. This year’s top products, including LG’s ColorPrime monitor, will be officially recognized at the 2013 TIPA awards ceremony to be held in Tokyo, Japan in June.

LG BEGINS SALES OF WORLD’S FIRST CURVED OLED TV

Pre-orders for 55-inch TV Starts Today in Korea, Shipping Next Month  Two LG CURVED OLED TVs, model 55EA9800, one facing right and the other facing the front.

SEOUL, Apr. 29, 2013 ㅡ LG Electronics (LG) announced that it will begin accepting pre-orders for its 55-inch (54.6-inch diagonal) CURVED OLED TV (Model 55EA9800) in South Korea, with deliveries to begin next month. More than 1,400 LG retail stores in South Korea will begin taking orders today from customers for the premium TV, priced at KRW 15 million (approximately USD 13,500). The announcement makes LG the first and only company to commercialize both the flat screen OLED TV, which began shipping to Korean customers in February, and the CURVED OLED TV, giving LG a significant lead in the OLED segment that is expected to grow to 7 million units by 2016, according to DisplaySearch.

“Our CURVED OLED TV is not only the proof of LG’s unmatched leadership in next-generation displays but also a testament to LG’s commitment to bringing to market the most exciting TV technology available today,” said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG’s Home Entertainment Company.

The new EA9800 model features the industry’s very first curved screen ergonomic design, providing an immersive, cinematic viewing experience in the home. With more than five years of research behind developing the optimum curvature, the entire screen surface is equidistant from the viewer’s eyes, eliminating the problem of screen-edge visual distortion and loss of detail.

Only 4.3 millimeters (0.17 inches) thin and weighing just 17 kilograms (37.48 pounds), LG’s CURVED OLED TV produces astoundingly vivid and realistic images thanks to its proprietary WRGB technology. The unique Four-Color Pixel system features a white sub-pixel, which works in conjunction with the conventional red, blue, green setup to create the perfect color output. What’s more, LG’s exclusive Color Refiner delivers even greater tonal enhancement, resulting in images that are more vibrant and natural than anything seen before. As in the original flat screen OLED TV, the CURVED OLED TV also offers an infinite contrast ratio for optimal contrast levels regardless of ambient brightness or viewing angle. TÜV Rheinland, Intertek and VDE, three international testing and certification bodies, recently recognized LG’s CURVED OLED TV for its superb picture quality.

Finally, LG’s CURVED OLED TV features thin transparent film speakers in the crystal clear stand, providing high-quality sound without compromising the TV’s beautiful design. LG’s CURVED OLED TV took the top “red dot: best of the best” honor at the prestigious design competition earlier this year.

Timing and pricing of the CURVED OLED TV in markets outside of Korea will be announced in the months ahead.

LG Cloud service showing stored photos on screen.

SEOUL, Apr. 26, 2013 ㅡ LG Electronics (LG), which launched its own LG Cloud service in the United States, South Korea and Russia last year, will roll-out the TV-centric service in more than 40 countries including Europe, Asia, Central Asia and Latin America regions by the end of next month. LG Cloud enables users to stream content directly to LG CINEMA 3D Smart TVs as well as providing a convenient location to store entertainment content that automatically synchronizes between PCs, smartphones and TVs.

“LG Cloud eliminates the time-consuming process of having to download or manually transfer content between devices,” said Richard Choi, senior vice president of the Smart Business Center at LG Electronics “Today’s consumers are no longer loyal to only one type of screen. They move seamlessly from TVs to PCs to smartphones and it’s up to us to help them get the content they want whenever and wherever they want it. LG is one of very few companies that can offer integration across so many display products.”

The LG Cloud app offers access to videos, photos and music once it is uploaded to the user’s account. Available on Google Play or the LG Smart World store, the easy-to-install app is compatible with LG CINEMA 3D Smart TVs, PCs and Android smartphones. After a quick setup process, users can begin streaming up to 5GB of content for free directly to their CINEMA 3D Smart TV without having to first download files to a smart storage device. Multimedia can be conveniently saved and streamed from LG Cloud, freeing up gigabytes of space on overloaded smartphones and PCs. Content can be uploaded to LG Cloud using the PC client, website or smart device. In the near future, smart home appliances will also be able to connect and share via LG Cloud for a truly integrated and convenient experience.

LG Cloud is also capable of transcoding and streaming multimedia content to mobile devices by N-Screen. It even has a resume play function for seamless viewing or listening across multiple products. Pause a video or song on a smartphone and LG Cloud will continue playback from that same point on an LG Smart TV. LG Cloud also makes it possible to view photo slideshows while simultaneously streaming music.

LG’s unique service allows members to easily store content in their own personal LG Cloud account. Signing in to an account on an LG CINEMA 3D Smart TV is quick and easy thanks to the automatic Single Sign On (SSO) protocol, which is able to recognize both the user’s LG Smart TV ID and LG Cloud ID.

LG ANNOUNCES FIRST-QUARTER 2013 FINANCIAL RESULTS

Quarterly Results Reflect Record-High Smartphone Shipments

A picture of LG Twin Towers in the daytime

SEOUL, Apr. 24, 2013 ㅡ LG Electronics (LG) today reported a solid first-quarter performance due to a resurging handset business which shipped 10.3 million smartphones between January and March, the highest for LG since it entered the smartphone race. Better-than-expected performance in LG’s mobile operations offset weaker results in the home entertainment business.
First-quarter operating profit of KRW 350 billion (USD 322.88 million) and net profit of KRW 22 billion (USD 20.30 million) declined somewhat from the same period last year. However, revenues in the first quarter rose 6.8 percent year-over-year to KRW 14.10 trillion (USD 13.01 billion) mainly due to the improved performance of the mobile business.
LG Home Entertainment Company revenues of KRW 5.17 trillion (USD 4.77 billion) declined year-on-year due to lower sales of plasma TVs and IT products. Sales of LCD TVs increased in Europe and developing markets such as China and CIS from the same period last year. Operating profit of KRW 30 billion (USD 27.68 million), although lower than last year, increased compared to the previous quarter. Although TV and IT market will continue to be stagnant , LG expects stronger results with the rollout of new 3D Smart TVs and ULTRA HD TVs.
LG Mobile Communications Company results improved significantly in the first quarter, recording revenues of KRW 3.21 trillion (USD 2.96 billion) on smartphone shipments of 10.3 million units, an increase in revenue of 28.5 percent from the same period last year. Healthy sales of LTE smartphones such as the Optimus G and Optimus G Pro along with 3G smartphones including the Optimus L Series and Nexus 4 contributed to the improved results. Operating profit increased almost four-fold from the same period last year to KRW 133 billion (USD 122.69 million) thanks to stronger revenue and better cost structure. The company expects to further increase shipments and sales in the second quarter with the worldwide rollout of Optimus L SeriesII targeting 3G markets with the 5.5-inch Full HD IPS Optimus G Pro and Optimus F Series in countries with 4G LTE networks.
LG Home Appliance Company sales in the first quarter of 2013 increased 11 percent from the same period last year to KRW 2.81 trillion (USD 2.59 billion), largely due to improved sales in the United States, Central America and the Middle East. A 29 percent decrease in operating profit year-over-year to KRW 102 billion (USD 94.10 million) reflected increased investments in R&D and marketing. LG will focus on strengthening its competitiveness and market leadership in a weak worldwide market with differentiated products and a strengthened product lineup.
LG Air Conditioning and Energy Solution Company revenues were KRW 1.23 trillion (USD 1.14 billion) in the first quarter, mainly as a result of improved performance in the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Due to successful new products, operating profit was virtually unchanged year-on-year at KRW 73 billion (USD 67.34 million) despite an increase in R&D expenses. LG expects to improve its sales and profitability by introducing more energy efficient and localized air conditioning products.
2013 1Q Exchange Rates Explained
Starting from the first quarter of 2013, LG Electronics accounted LG Innotek as a consolidated subsidiary of the Company pursuant to enactment of Korea-International Financial Reporting Standards (K-IFRS) 1110 “Consolidated Financial Statements.” Due to this change, the Company has also reclassified comparative financial data in accordance with the new disclosure requirement. Amounts in Korean won (KRW) are translated into U.S. dollars (USD) at the average rate of the three-month period of the corresponding quarter — KRW 1,084 per USD (2013 1Q).

Available now on 2013 LG Smart TVs available in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, the feature will also be included in LG Smart TVs in France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Australia starting this month with other markets to follow.

This highly secure, digital payment system provides an easy and secure way for consumers to purchase products and services directly through their LG Smart TV. “LG and PayPal will create a more user-friendly Smart TV experience, enabling the user to make faster, more secure digital payments,” Richard Choi, senior vice president of the Smart Business Center at LG Electronics. “PayPal significantly reduces the number of steps the user has to take in order to complete a transaction; saving them time by eliminating the need to enter credit card and address details for each subsequent purchase. LG TARGETS EUROPE WITH SMART, ENERGY EFFICIENT HOME APPLIANCES AT 2013 LG INNOFEST

Aiming to Become Number One in the Global Home Appliance Market by 2015,

LG Shows Off Its Latest Convenience-Enhancing Products in Berlin

Seong-jin Jo, president and CEO of the LG Home Appliance Company, holds up the LG InnoFest 2013 slogan with two men at InnoFest 2013 in Berlin

SEOUL, Apr. 11, 2013 ㅡ LG showcased an impressive range of localized, energy efficient home appliances at the 2013 LG Innovative Festival (InnoFest), held in Berlin from April 10 to 11. The successful event was attended by approximately 300 of LG’s business partners and other stakeholders from all across Europe.

LG’s latest home appliances, including its Eco-Hybrid washer-dryer and energy grade A+++ refrigerators, boast a number of innovative features and cutting-edge technologies. By strengthening its lineup of premium and mid-end appliances tailor-made for each market, LG aims to reinforce its strong global position and become the number one home appliance brand in the world by 2015.

“When purchasing home appliances, European consumers rank energy efficiency, convenience and innovative designs very highly,” said Seong-jin Jo, president and CEO of the LG Home Appliance Company. “We know these are high priorities because we are always listening to our customers and carefully monitoring industry trends in order to better meet the needs of today’s consumers.”

LG sees consumer insights as a key factor in LG’s ability to differentiate itself from the competition. As a component of this endeavor, LG operates refrigerator consumer lifestyle labs in Germany and Spain, as well as a washing machine research lab (also in Germany) and a design lab in London. Each specialized facility enables LG to develop products that are capable of meeting the real-world needs of today’s busy consumers. Furthermore, production sites such as LG’s factory in Poland produce appliances which are specifically designed and built to meet the needs of the region.

“LG is simultaneously strengthening its premium brand image while reinforcing its mid-range home appliances for the European market. This two-track strategy is aimed at further strengthening our position in the European market,” added Mr. Jo.

On display at this year’s LG InnoFest in Berlin were the company’s new Eco-Hybrid washer-dryers — 12 kg washing and 8 kg drying — and 9 kg freestanding dryers. With water and energy consumption prices on the rise, the new washer-dryers from LG are highly suited to European consumers looking for ways to save both water and energy through their home appliances. Conventional washer-dryers normally utilize water during the drying cycle. LG’s new washer-dryers, on the other hand, deliver incredible A-grade energy efficiency through a convenient Air-drying mode that complements the conventional drying mode. This saves the consumer up to 6,900 liters of water per year.[1] What’s more, LG’s Eco-Hybrid dryers feature an Eco mode and a Speed mode with the former using approximately 50 percent less energy than conventional dryers[2] while the latter is 30 percent quicker.[3]

The new washer-dryers are equipped with LG’s proprietary 6 Motion Direct Drive, offering consumers better washing performance and enhanced fabric care. By using a combination of different motor movements to deliver customized washing for various types of clothes, the 6 Motion Direct Drive enables fewer wrinkles and less damage to fabrics.

Along with energy saving washers and dryers, LG also offers the industry’s first A+++ energy rated bottom-freezer refrigerator and double layered Door-in-Door system. LG’s refrigerators provide customers with enhanced energy savings as well as the most convenient food storage and access options. LG offers further value to European consumers with exceptional products such as the Charcoal Lighting Heater™ oven, the HOM-BOT SQUARE robotic vacuum cleaner, and TrueSteam™ equipped dishwashers.

By showcasing a variety of differentiated appliances that feature premium technologies and innovative designs at competitive prices, LG is providing consumers with a wider varietyof choices. LG is introducing its unique appliances and technologies through its Smart Campaign in Europe and also expanding partnerships with local distributors. Together, these factors will help the company strengthen its position on the continent.

LG PUTS SPOTLIGHT ON SMART HOME APPLIANCES AT 2013 LG INNOFEST

Aiming for Number One in Latin American Appliance Market by 2015

A group photo of participants at LG InnoFest 2013

SEOUL, Apr. 8, 2013 — The 2013 LG Innovative Festival (Innofest), held in Cancun, Mexico from April 4 to 6, provided an opportunity for LG’s business partners and other stakeholders from across South and Central America to see and experience a range of impressive products designed to deliver savings, convenience, performance and better health. With approximately 300 participants, the event highlighted LG’s efforts to strengthen its global position and become the number one home appliance brand by 2015.

Major products featured in the lineup included LG’s Door-in-Door refrigerator, 6 Motion Direct Drive washing machine, Charcoal Lighting Heater oven and HOM-BOT SQUARE robotic vacuum cleaner. All of these products reflect LG’s commitment to developing premium products and technologies that will set global trends as well as cater to local market needs. In order to carry out this commitment in South and Central America, LG plans to invest heavily in regional R&D and implement a localization strategy where regional specialists will be used to gain deeper insights into the needs of local consumers.

“LG’s home appliances are designed with a host of unique, smart and innovative technologies and we are very excited about the extent to which these appliances can improve the lives of consumers across the region,” said Se-woo Park, President of the South and Central America Region, LG Electronics. “These products offer larger capacities and greater energy efficiency, and they also boast sleek, convenient designs. With this in mind, we are confident that LG can be the number one home appliance brand by 2015.”

Furthermore, LG intends to develop its production facilities in South and Central America so that LG products can be manufactured from start to finish in the same region. In particular, the expansion of its manufacturing facility in Monterrey will make the facility the core center of LG’s regional production sites. In addition, the Monterrey facility will exemplify the company’s manufacturing flexibility, producing LG’s top selling washing machines as well as customized products tailored to local needs.

The ultra convenient Door-in-Door feature found in LG refrigerators provides fast access to a fresh storage area located within the refrigerator’s right door. The user-friendly compartment can be opened with the simple push of a button, giving consumers quick and easy access to their favorite snacks while helping to prevent cold air loss. The Door-in-Door also helps to keep food fresher, and it further benefits the user by freeing up room elsewhere in the fridge.

Other insightful refrigerator technologies that cater to Latin American consumers include the Slim Door MountedIce Maker and Hygiene Fresh. While the Slim Door Mounted Ice Maker improves space efficiency by helping free up additional storage space in the refrigerator door, LG’s unique Hygiene Fresh air filtration system ensures food stays fresher for longer. By removing 99.9 percent of airborne bacteria and odor from the fridge while simultaneously introducing purified air through special fresh air flow channels, the Hygiene Fresh system is ideal for customers in hot, humid climates.

The 6 Motion Direct Drive equipped washing machines offer consumers better washing performance and enhanced fabric care. By using a combination of different motor movements to deliver customized washing for various types of clothes, the 6 Motion Direct Drive enables fewer wrinkles and less damage to fabrics. LG’s front-loading washing machine (washer/dryer) also incorporates TurboWash™ technology, which saves up to 20 minutes of washing time even with larger loads.

The HOM-BOT SQUARE revolutionizes vacuuming with new levels of efficiency and convenience. It comes equipped with the innovative Corner Master, a feature set that includes the product’s square design, longer brushes and improved sensors, leaving dust few places to hide.

The Charcoal Lighting Heater™ equipped lightwave oven uses a charcoal filament to maintain a natural flow of heat. LG’s unique heater penetrates deeply into the user’s culinary creations, delivering the crispy-on-the-outside, juicy-on-the-inside results that make mouths water. It also works to reduce unnecessary salt and fat content in meals, while sealing in healthy vitamins and nutrients.

LG TVS REGISTERED IN NEW ‘EPEAT’ ENVIRONMENTAL RATINGS

New EPEAT Category Recognizes Leadership in Key Green Criteria

Two LG employees holding up an LG TV displaying the EPEAT logo.

SEOUL, Apr. 3, 2013 ㅡ More than 50 television models from LG Electronics are now rated on the EPEAT global registry for greener electronics, which expanded today to include televisions for the first time.

The new environmental rating category recognizes LG-brand flat-panel HDTVs, Internet-connected Smart TVs and 3D-capable TVs. The comprehensive EPEAT rating system, which currently registers products in 42 countries and regions, is designed to help consumers, businesses and governments identify environmentally preferable television products.

The 53 LG TVs rated on the registry meet up to four dozen environmental performance criteria developed during a four-year consensus process involving the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, industry representatives and key non-governmental organizations. The stringent EPEAT standards include analysis of a product’s energy efficiency, recyclability, reduction of hazardous substances, packaging and longevity, to name a few attributes.

EPEAT CEO Robert Frisbee commended LG Electronics for its leadership as a charter participant in the new EPEAT registry’s TV category. “As a founding manufacturer in the new TV category, LG is forging a path toward a world filled with greener television options for purchasers worldwide,” he said.

“As a long-time EPEAT partner for computer monitors, we recognize the value of this important program in educating customers about sustainable products,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, president and chief technology officer, LG Electronics Inc. “LG is proud to be among the first to meet EPEAT’s new TV criteria for greener electronics.”

EPEAT has been the gold standard for sustainability ratings since 2006, initially as a program to help companies, governments and consumers compare and purchase greener PCs and monitors. The addition of the new TV EPEAT category comes less than two months after the registry expanded to include printers, copiers and other imaging equipment.

Since 2006, purchasers choosing EPEAT-registered electronics over products that don’t meet the system’s criteria have eliminated greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to 11 million U.S. vehicles’ annual impact, avoided more than 394,000 metric tons of hazardous waste and reduced solid waste by nearly 167,000 metric tons – equivalent to  nearly 86,000 U.S. households’ annual waste.

EYE RECOGNITION TO BRING NEW LEVEL OF CONVENIENCE TO LG SMARTPHONE

Technology to Debut in Smart Video Feature in Optimus G Pro

A front view of LG OPTIMUS G PRO with grey-colored background

SEOUL, Mar. 14, 2013 Smart Video, a new multimedia UX feature from LG Electronics (LG), will be unveiled for the first time in the Optimus G Pro. Smart Video takes viewing videos on mobile devices to a whole new level of convenience with eye recognition that eliminates the need to manually control playback during the viewing experience.

Through the implementation of advanced eye recognition technology, Smart Video recognizes the position of the viewer’s eyes and automatically plays or stops the video without any manual input from the user. When the viewer’s eyes are no longer focused on the smartphone display, the front camera recognizes this and immediately pauses the video automatically. Once the user’s gaze returns to the smartphone, the video resumes playback from the point last viewed.

In addition to the Smart Video feature, Optimus G Pro will also be equipped with the world’s first Dual Camera function. The Dual Camera  feature is an extension of the Dual Recording feature which debuted on the Optimus G Pro introduced in the Korean market last month. Dual Camera simultaneously captures photographs using both the front and back cameras for a picture-in-picture composition. Users can now be a part of the story, not just observers.

  • “LG is continuously innovating to offer creative ways to offer a user experience that adds value to our customers,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.“It’s the positive UX that will differentiate smartphones in 2013 and beyond, not only cutting-edge hardware specs.”

The Smart Video and Dual Camera features will be introduced as a part of the Value Pack upgrade which will be offered for the Optimus G Pro in the Korean market next month. These features will also be made available for some LG premium smartphones in the future.

Other features in the Value Pack upgrade include:

  •

Magic Remote Pad and Text Keypad via the QRemote function. These new options for QRemote work specifically with LG Smart TVs to enhance convenience when using Optimus G Pro as a remote control for LG Smart TVs.

The Smart LED Lighting outlining the home button of the Optimus G Pro will be upgraded so users can customize the colors to correspond to their favorite contacts. The flashing of the LED in different colors will allow users to identify the source of incoming calls, missed calls, unread messages and emails.

Video Pause/Resume allows the user to stop and start in record mode for one continuous video file.

LG RECOGNIZED WITH RED DOT AND iF DESIGN AWARDS

Prestigious Global Design Experts Recognize

Design Excellence in LG’s 2013 Products

SEOUL, Mar. 13, 2013 ㅡ Twenty-seven of LG Electronics’ (LG) 2013 products were recognized by the red dot design awards for their excellence in the field of design. A panel of 37 independent judges considered over 4,662 products from 1,865 manufacturers, designers and architectsfrom 54 countries. LG took top honors by receiving the coveted red dot: best of the bestaward for its new curved OLED TV. LG also received 24 other red dot design awards in addition to two honorable mentions.

“Design has always been an important part of our DNA and in recent years it’s become even more important that we differentiate our products in an industry that has become synonymous with great looking products,” said Dr. Scott Ahn, head of Corporate Design at LG Electronics. “Our ultimate philosophy is to incorporate designs that work but also evoke an emotional response. The design awards are a testament to the company’s success in this regard.”

Highlights of LG’s key products recognized at the 2013 red dot design awards include:

Best of the Best: Curved OLED TV

First unveiled at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show, LG’s curved OLED TV (model EA9800)introduces aunique design that capitalizes on the thinness of the display and the aesthetic beauty of the technology itself. The unique EA9800 features the industry’s very first ergonomically curved screen design with vivid picture quality. It has a gentle inward flex, making the entire screen surface equidistant from the viewer’s eyes. This eliminates screen-edge visual distortion and loss of detail.

The revolutionary TV provides a more comfortable and immersive viewing experience as well as a remarkably clear image. The innovative design boldly pushes past conventional perceptions of what a display should be. LG’s design team integrated the innovative Crystal Stand to cleverly conceal elements of the product not directly relevant to the screen. This has the effect of further enhancing the already immersive environment created by LG’s CINEMA SCREEN Design which is defined by a bezel so thin that it is practically invisible to the naked eye, eliminating any distraction to the action on the screen.

Smartphones That Turn Heads

LG’s first Full HD smartphone, the Optimus G Pro, comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display and new UX features. This unique device was specifically developed to meet the growing demand for smartphones with extra large screens. The thin bezel highlights its “simple yet detailed” personality, punctuated only by decorative metal on the edges that exudes an elegant, graceful look and feel.

The Optimus L3II is part of the newly introduced Optimus L SeriesII which embodies the beauty of the original L Series but with a more refined touch. The Optimus L3II continues LG’s design heritage with four new elements that make the device eye catching and fun to use—Seamless Layout, Laser Cut Contour, Radiant Rear Design, and Smart LED Lighting around the home button with various colors for notifications.

Appliance To Enhance Any Kitchen

LG’s latest side-by-side refrigerator with Door-in-Door system provides more usable storage space and a number of new convenience-oriented features. This model is equipped with LG’s propriety Door-in-Door feature which provides easier access to foods and drinks that family members consume most frequently while minimizing cold air from escaping when the refrigerator door is opened. The exterior design takes a minimalistic approach with a bold yet restrained metal finish that enables the refrigerator to fit the décor of any kitchen.

Other LG products receiving recognition by red dot award judges include the Touch Monitor (ET63), 100-Inch Laser TV (HECTO), Soundbar (NB6530), Mouse Scanner (LSM-300), among others.

iF Design Awards Success

LG’s accolades from the 2013 red dot design awards follows in the footsteps of the company’s success at the iF (International Forum) design awards earlier this year. LG took home 23 iF product design awards, besting more than 3,000 competitive entries. LG’s OLED TV (model EM9700), French 4-Door refrigerator with Door-in-DoorTM, HOM-BOT SQUARE robotic vacuum cleaner and Optimus G, L9 and L7 smartphones were all recognized for their design excellence. Four communication design awards were also bestowed on LG among 1,086 competing entries. LG’s OLED TV microsite – www.LGOLED.tv – was recognized for the visual way in which it told the story of “the ultimate next generation display.”
