LG ELECTRONICS MAKES IT EASY TO GO SMART WITH NEW SMART TV OFFERINGS

User-friendly Dashboard and Motion Control Magic Remote Provide Easy Access to

Premium Content and LG App Store

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2011 –- LG Electronics (LG), a global leader and technology innovator in consumer electronics, unveiled its new LG SmartTV platform at the International Consumer Electronics Show (Booth #8205). The unique platform provides access to thousands of movies, customizable apps, videos and the ability to browse the Web through an easy to navigate user interface and uncomplicated point and click remote system*.

A simple dashboard is the gateway to the LG SmartTV experience. With just four main sections -– TV Live, Premium Content, TV Apps and a Launch Bar – viewers are never more than a few clicks from a vast variety of content.

For TV models, selecting features is as easy as the wave of the hand with the motion controlled Magic Remote*.  The remote is operated by simply pointing it at the screen, moving the cursor to the desired option and clicking on the selection. A keyboard is not needed, but a QWERTY keyboard app is available for download on Android smartphones or iPhone.

“LG SmartTV provides viewers with endless options on their television, however, if these entertainment features are difficult to access or select, consumers will not truly enjoy the technology,” said Jay Vandenbree, senior vice president, Home Electronics, LG Electronics USA. “We have designed our LG SmartTV platform to be as easy and simple to use as possible, so that viewers spend their time engaging with their television, rather than navigating it.”

Building upon the pioneering NetCast Entertainment Access offering, LG’s SmartTV platform provides access to endless entertainment options from providers including**:

• VUDU– Allows consumers to buy or rent from an extensive catalog of more than 2,000 high-definition movies and TV titles without monthly fees or additional hardware. It also is the only online service to offer movies in 1080p.
• Netflix – Updated with Netflix 2.0, consumers can now stream thousands of movies without a PC.
• YouTube – Instantly streams millions of Web videos directly from the Internet.
• CinemaNow – Allows consumers to browse from the CinemaNow premium content catalog and instantly stream purchased or rented movies and popular TV shows.
• Hulu Plus – Subscribers have access to back seasons or full runs of some of TV’s greatest shows.
• Amazon Video on Demand – Allows consumers to view more than 75,000 hit movies and television shows instantly.
• Live Streaming Sports (multiple partners) – Pro sports fans can follow their favorite teams, stay up to date with player profiles, and stream games in HD quality.

The LG App Store is also populated with hundreds of applications for download. Additionally, the platform includes a Web browser so users no longer need to turn on their laptop to access the Internet. With this feature, news, reviews, and a host of other content can be viewed on the television screen. (Web browser available on LG SmartTV models and LG Smart TV Upgrader only).

LG’s Smart Share function allows users to wirelessly stream content from their PCs and other compatible devices for viewing on their television screen. Smart Share also includes Media Link, which provides additional information, such as cover art or liner notes, for content being streamed.

LG TAKES SOUND TO NEW HEIGHTS OF REALISM WITH HX996TS 3D SOUND HOME THEATER SYSTEM

HX996TS Brings Cinema Sound to Living Rooms to Create Perfect 3D Experience

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2011 — LG Electronics today introduced the HX996TS, its first Real 3D Sound Home Theater System. Using innovative new approaches to delivering sound, the HX996TS provides the perfect soundtrack for watching movies in 3D.

“Home entertainment fans are increasingly getting the chance to experience TV and movies in 3D, but until now, sound has remained firmly in 2D,” said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG Home Entertainment Company. “With the HX996TS, we’ve made a big leap forward with audio, so viewers can now get as immersed in sound every bit as engrossing and lifelike as the best 3D movies.”

The HX996TS’s outstanding sound quality comes via three key innovations. The first, the Vertical 3D Effect Channel, emits sound through the tops of the HX996TS’s four Tallboy Speakers to expand the sound field up to the ceiling. The resulting audio waves fill the space above viewers’ heads, creating the illusion that they are right in the middle of the movie.

The second part of the HX996TS’s 3D sound comes via its dual subwoofers. Instead of the conventional single subwoofer, two subwoofers are placed on the opposite sides of the television, greatly enriching the overall sound quality. The dual subwoofers add a room-filling, “low attack” undercurrent to the audio for a strikingly realistic soundtrack.

Completing the 3D sound experience is the Cinema Dome Effect, which perfects 3D sound via LG’s unique DSP algorithm. LG’s DSP algorithm also analyzes individual audio channels in real-time, guaranteeing seamless sound tracking. The combined end effect is an upwards and backwards expansion of the sound field, putting viewers right at the heart of the sound.

The HX996TS’s design – parabolic units atop sturdy, wide bases – is both stylish and also helps create a richer, more powerful sound. In addition, a classy glazed finish, gradated in 3D blue on its lower section, enhances the dimensional look of the speaker.

HX996TS Specifications:

  •  Vertical 3D Effect Channel
  •  Cinema Dome Effect
  •  3D mode: 7.2 Ch / 1,280W Output

2D mode: 5.2 Ch / 1,100W Output

LG ELECTRONICS REDEFINES HOME ENTERTAINMENT WITH BROAD LINE OF FULL-FEATURED LED AND LCD HDTVS

New LED Technology, Combined with 3D, SmartTV and Enhanced Picture Quality,
Delivers Uncompromised Options for Home Theater Enthusiasts

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2011 –– LG Electronics today introduced its 2011 LED and LCD HDTVs -– led by advanced new display technology, versatile new 3D viewing options and internet-connected “Smart TV” capabilities -– at the International Consumer Electronics Show (Booth #8205).

The LG LED and LCD HDTV 2011 lineup combines slim depth and bezel design with enhanced connectivity and abundant content options. Leading the way to the ultimate home entertainment experience, the LW9500 and LW7700 sets are LG’s first NANO FULL LED 3D-ready models available in the United States. Setting a new standard in 3D comfort, the LW6500 and LW5600 sets will be LG’s first models available for home entertainment consumers containing polarized LG Cinema 3D technology. LG’s Cinema 3D offers a theater-like experience at home with lightweight glasses, crisp images and clear wide-angle viewing.

INFINIA is the flagship of LG’s 21-model LED HDTV* line -– including nine new series of LED HDTVs and four new series of LCD HDTVs. Leading these introductions is the NANO FULL LED series that pushes the boundaries of viewing pleasure with NANO Lighting Technology, which produces bright, clear and smooth picture. An extremely thin film printed with a proprietary light dispersion pattern and combined with a full array of LEDs disperses light more evenly across the screen, creating pictures that are brighter and more uniform than conventional edge-lit LED sets. What’s more, an Anti-Reflection Panel on the screen minimizes reflection from external light sources, including sunlight, to provide a crystal clear picture.

The LW9500 and LW7700 were recognized with CES 2011 Innovations Awards, including the “Best of Innovations” distinction in the Video Displays category for the LW9500.

Setting Premier Expectations
Broadening consumer entertainment options, LG’s latest series of HDTVs gives consumers superior picture quality, advanced energy saving options and flexible access to content-on-demand. LG’s LED HDTVs challenge consumers’ current perceptions of home entertainment by illustrating what’s possible with superior display technology.

LG’s NANO FULL LED and Full LED Slim series (models LW9500, LW7700 and LZ9700) are expected to achieve THX 2D and 3D Display Certification* – the industry standard for having the correct gamma, luminance, and color temperature. To earn THX 3D display certification, these models passed more than 400 laboratory tests evaluating left and right eye images for color accuracy, cross-talk, viewing angles and video processing performance. In addition to THX 3D Display Certification, this series had to pass THX certification for their superior picture quality in 2D, which must be achieved before passing THX 3D Display Certification. THX Certification ensures that consumers bring home an uncompromised HD experience with picture quality the way the director intended.  NANO FULL LED and FULL LED Slim 3D works with the use of active shutter glasses and an RF emitter built into the television.

Connectivity
Nine out of 13 of the new LED LCD series boast a connectivity package with a variety of entertainment options, including the brand new LG SmartTV*. LG SmartTV is an easy way to access limitless content, thousands of movies, customizable apps, videos and browse the Web, all organized in a simple to use interface. And when consumers can just point and choose selections with LG’s unique motion-controlled Magic Motion Remote control, it’s even simpler.

LG also has incorporated the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) technology across all SmartTV-enabled HDTVs. DLNA allows consumers to access content stored on other DLNA-certified devices within the home, such as computers or an LG NAS device, making content options almost limitless.

Providing easy options for connecting to the Internet, in addition to the wired Ethernet jack, all LG SmartTV-enabled sets can integrate into a wireless home network by using a USB wireless broadband adaptor (included). All LG SmartTV models also support multi-media playback from a connected USB device including photos (JPEG), music (MP3) and video (DivX HD).

Energy Savings
Understanding consumers’ desire for products that reduce their household energy costs, most of LG’s LED HDTVs have a variety of energy-saving features, such as Intelligent Sensor, to automatically calibrate and optimize brightness, contrast, white balance and color, based on the ambient light in the room, saving on energy output under most circumstances. Additionally, ISFccc calibration options allow consumers to work with a professional to set “day” and “night” levels for optimal viewing and brightness levels. All of LG’s 2011 LED series also qualify for ENERGY STAR® certification.

In total, LG unveiled 13 new series of LED and LCD HDTV models for consumers -– creating a robust HDTV line up of advanced picture quality, wireless technology and diverse screen sizes. Full details on the series are below:

LG ELECTRONICS UNVEILS 2011 LINE OF COMPUTER MONITORS, NETWORK ATTACHED STORAGE AND OPTICAL DISC DRIVES

Convenience, Power and Style Converge to Create Equipment For All Needs

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2011 –– LG Electronics announced its 2011 product lineup of Computer Monitors, Optical Disc Drives (ODD) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices today at the International Consumer Electronics Show (Booth #8205).

Leading LG’s 2011 monitors is the super slim E90, the company’s slimmest LED monitor* to date with a 7.2 mm bezel depth. With an increasing number of consumers watching movies and videos on their desktop PCs, the picture quality of the monitor is more important than ever before.  With a response time of just two milliseconds, the monitor’s display helps maintain a clear and bright picture even during fast-moving action sequences. With LG’s Image Booster software, streaming content is enhanced to reduce motion blur.

To maintain its super slim design, the E90 places its power supply and the socket connecting the monitor to the PC on the back of the stand, an innovation called EZ-cabling. In addition to the reduced footprint offered by its light weight and slim size, the E90 uses lessenergy than conventional CCFL-backlit LCD monitors and LEDs do not contain mercury like CCFL bulbs.

Employing both IPS and LED technologies, the new IPS236V monitor delivers advanced picture quality while minimizing color shift. LG’s new LED monitor uses an IPS panel instead of TN (Twisted Nematic) to help overcome viewing angle limits and provide truer-to-life color.

As a leader in emerging IPS technology, LG has been able to harness the advantages of IPS and use them in its IPS monitor series. Using IPS panels, LG’s 23-inch class IPS6 monitor* provides more stable color and a higher uniformity of brightness at virtually any viewing angle, making it ideal for editing video and graphics, as well as watching movies or playing games. What’s more, LG’s LED IPS monitor takes full advantage of LED monitor technology to provide slimmer bezels, eco-friendly features and a superior contrast ratio.

Developed with consumers in mind, the IPS6 boasts a slim and sleek design, with a bezel depth of just 19.5mm that makes it a eye-catching addition to any office or home environment. A gorgeous transparent neck with distinctive coloring and a wine glass shape accentuate the stylish, upscale appearance. And as a final touch, the monitors boast a 3D power knob with an arresting silver-chrome finish.

The LG LED E2381V features LG’s SUPER+ resolution, which delivers stunning picture quality. The E2341 also emphasizes the company’s commitment to greener products by featuring LG’s Super Energy Savings. Through a high contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 and LG’s SUPER+ Resolution technology -– which provides a more realistic picture in HD while also upscaling standard definition content to near HD –- the 23-inch class E81* delivers exceptionally crisp and vivid images. The secret behind LG’s SUPER+ Resolution is the Image Clear Engine chip, which uses a Full HD-compatible single-frame algorithm to help eliminate frame delay, without the need for any external memory or software.

In total, LG unveiled eight new series of computer monitors –- creating a robust product line with advanced picture quality and convenient features. The full line includes: IPS236V (23-inch class size), E2341 (23-inch class size), N1941W (18.50inch class size) Network Monitor, N1910LZ (19-inch class size), E70 Series (23- and 27-inch class sizes), M80D (23- and 27-inch class sizes)*.

LG also introduced its first portable Blu-ray Rewriter ODD (model BP06LU10). Encased in a slim and stylish frame, the BP06LU10 boasts 3D Playback functionality that provides top-notch videos and sound and spectacular live-action stereoscopic 3D*.

Unlike existing external Blu-ray Rewriters, the AC Power Adapter Free BP06LU10 allows for Blu-ray disc writing and title playing experiences for mini and slim laptop users with no optical disc drive. 3D Blu-ray content that used to be played through Blu-ray players and TVs can now be played on the PC with the BP06LU10 external Blu-ray Rewriter.  Thanks to the BP06LU10’s Power DVD 3D bundle software, it not only plays 3D titles, but also converts conventional 2D DVD titles to provide a 3D effect.

Furthermore, BP06LU10 boasts LG’s innovative optical disc drive technology, featuring “Silent Play” and “Jamless Play.” With Silent Play, the disc read speed is automatically controlled for optimal noise reduction.  Jamless Play allows the device to detect and skip any scratched parts of a disc to help provide smooth video and sound with minimalinterruption.

Its writing speeds are at 6x Blu-ray and 8x DVD. Disc storage is more convenient with the Lightscribe feature, which allows users to create customized labels onto a specially coated disc (sold separately). With its stylish blue slim frame and easy portability, the BP06LU10 offers exceptional design with functionality to match.

LG also introduced new models in the portable DVD re-writer category. The RP8 series (models GP40LB10, NW10 and NR10) and RP11 series (models GP10NB20, NW20 and NG20) all feature attractive lightweight designs with USB connectivity. Both the GP40LB10 and GP10NB20 have been reduced in size by 20 percent from previous models.

Network Attached Storage Devices

LG ELECTRONICS LEADS THE WAY WITH FULL SUITE OF PROJECTORS

2011 Series Covers Every Setting and Every Need,
From 3D to Portability to Exceptional Home Cinema

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2011 -– LG Electronics unveiled its versatile 2011 video projector series today at the International Consumer Electronics Show (Booth #8205). Combining smart technologies and stylish design, LG projectors deliver robust features, convenience and outstanding picture quality that make them the perfect projectors for home, school and business settings.

Superb brightness and connectivity meet high convenience in the ultra portable HW300T. The CF181D and CF3D projectors set new benchmarks in home cinema picture quality.

“Consumers are on the look out for exciting solutions for their entertainment and business video display needs, and LG projectors provide the versatility and portability options for multiple applications,” said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG Home Entertainment Company. “Whether customers are looking for ease of travel for business, or theater-like performance for a home installation, LG has the right solution.”

A top view of the world’s first Full HD Dual Engine Single Lens 3D Projector model CF3D

A close-up of the world’s first Full HD Dual Engine Single Lens 3D Projector model CF3D

CF3D –- The Ultimate 3D Home Theater Experience
LG’s versatile CF3D is the world’s first Full HD Dual Engine Single Lens 3D Projector featuring an outstanding brightness rating of 2,500 ANSI-lumens for 2D viewing and 1,250 ANSI-lumens for 3D content and a high contrast ratio of 7,000:1.

Other 3D projection systems use two separate projectors – one for each eye. The CF3D has two engines built into one unit, reducing the space and size required to provide 3D content from a single projector. Thanks to the LCOS system, two images are polarized within the unit and projected simultaneously for maximum brightness. The CF3D projector addresses ghosting with improved and more rapid polarization, so the image is converted into a single 3D picture before transmission.

The CF3D comes with six pairs of polarized 3D glasses (additional glasses sold separately). To view 3D content, a 3D Blu-ray Disc player (or other 3D program source) and silver screen are required and sold separately.

CF181D -– The Pinnacle of Picture Quality in High-End Home Cinema
With its outstanding picture quality and wide-ranging settings, the CF181D lets viewers enjoy the movie theater experience in the comfort of their home. The CF181D’s Advanced Contrast Enhancement creates high clarity and contrast, while the Hollywood Quality Video Chip enables a picture so natural and precise; it is certified by the Image Science Foundation (ISF). The casing of the CF181D minimizes light leakage and reduces operating noise to a quiet 23dB.

The incredible 35,000:1 contrast ratio and brightness of 1,800 ANSI-lumens means the CF181D has the power to captivate on the big screen. With multiple connectivity options, the CF181D is ready to display content through nearly any device. Two HDMI inputs are on hand for connecting the CF181D to a computer, DVD and Blu-ray players, DTV decoders and many other video devices. Equipped with a number of video control and image enhancement technologies, such as Iris Auto and Trumotion Demo, the CF181D can be fine-tuned to precision.

HW300T -– Portable LED
LG’s first portable projector to incorporate the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) technology, consumers can easily and wirelessly transfer stored digital content from devices such as personal computers and watch it from this projector.  It comes with a built-in ATSC tuner so consumers can watch TV through the projector.  Augmenting the HW300T with more content options, it also includes a broadband function, which provides consumers access to a host of internet services, such as Accuweather, Twitter and Facebook – without a computer. In addition, the HW300T can also access and play DivX format HD content and, via its USB connection, it allows users to show presentation and data spreadsheets without a PC.

The HW300T has 1200 x 800 WXGA resolution,  combined with a contrast ratio of 2,000:1 and brightness of 250 ANSI-lumens to ensure it displays crisp, vibrant images even when the rooms lighting isn’t ideal for viewing. As LG’s most energy-efficient projector, the life expectancy for the HW300T is 30,000 hours. The LED light source is also built without the use of Mercury adding to the projectors environmentally friendly design.  It comes in a sleek, compact glossy-black unit, weighing just 1.74lbs.

LG’S NEW SUPER LED LINE RAISES BAR FOR HIGH-TECH, HIGH-PERFORMANCE MONITORS

Monitors Combine Slim Design, Great Picture Quality, Wide Viewing Angle and Significant Energy Saving

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2011 -– LG Electronics’ innovative new SUPER LED monitor lineup, introduced today at the International Consumer Electronics Show (Booth #8205), is designed to provide consumers with stylish designs, excellent picture quality, wide viewing angles and energy efficiency -– aptly named SUPER Slim, SUPER Picture Quality, SUPER Angle and SUPER Energy Saving.

LG SUPER LED SUPER Angle Model IPS6 Left View

“As a leader in the LED monitor market, LG is preparing to take customer satisfaction to new heights with its brand new premium monitors,” said Si Hwan Park, Vice President of Monitor Division of LG Home Entertainment Company. “With their stunningly original design and technology features, LG’s SUPER LED monitors set a new benchmark for style and performance in premium monitors.”

Unbeatably Slim, Compellingly Vivid
With the CES Innovations Award winning E2290V, LG unveiled the ultimate in slim design -– 7.2mm thin – and great picture. In contrast to conventional monitor designs, the E2290V’s stand features delicate curves and a sophisticated metallic texture. Its power supply and socket connecting it with the desktop are cleanly tucked into the back of the stand, a design innovation called EZ-cabling.

Featuring LED lighting, and a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio, experience rich, deep, vibrant Full HD 1080p.  With a picture response time of just two milliseconds, the monitor’s display remains clear and bright even during fast-moving action sequences.

Building on already outstanding picture quality standards, LG’s unveiled its new SUPER+ (Plus) Resolution function, which up-scales standard-definition content to high resolution, while sharpening blurry edges and improving dim colors. SUPER+ Resolution (available with the E2341V series) is made possible with LG’s Image Clear Engine, which uses a Full HD-compatible single-frame algorithm to eliminate frame delay without the need for any external memory or software.

Wide-Angle Viewing, Lower Energy
LG has merged its In Plane Switching (IPS) technology along with an energy efficient design by incorporating LED backlighting on its new IPS236V monitor. IPS technology offers a wide viewing angle of 178°/178°. Combined with its 6 Axis Color Control, this model offers stable color across all viewing angles, making it ideal for photo and video professionals, and game enthusiasts alike. Its Full HD 1080p resolution and mega contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 ensure a superb picture.

Each monitor in the SUPER LED series incorporates energy efficiency. The E2341V series uses SUPER Energy Saving technology, so it consumes less energy than conventional LED monitors with no drop in picture quality. Other SUPER LED series are up to 40 percent more energy efficient than standard LCD units.

In total, LG announced four SUPER Slim LED Monitors; additional details on the series are below:

LG SETS SIGHT ON TAKING TV MARKET SHARE LEAD

Smart TV and CINEMA 3DTM TV Will Play Key Role

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2011 –- At the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas today, the head of LG Electronics’ (LG) Home Entertainment Company revealed the company’s plans for its TV business for 2011 and beyond.

LG has set a sales goal of 40 million flat panel TVs including Smart TVs, 3D TVs, and LED-backlight LCD TVs in 2011. Its new Smart TVs will be especially important as the company looks to be a leader in a segment that is set to take off this year. LG is also looking to secure a big slice of the 3D TV market this year with its CINEMA 3D™ technology having greatly reduced flicker and crosstalk to produce the company’s best 3D picture yet.

“The global TV market is in the middle of another sea of change, with Smart TVs promising a new way to get all the shows, movies and online content at the touch of a button,” said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. “Innovation is what drives the TV business at LG and we are confident we can be a leader in both Smart TVs and 3D TVs in 2011.”

The “Point, Click, Control, Simply Smarter” concept behind LG’s Smart TV makes this television simple and intuitive for anyone to use. Home Dashboard and Magic Motion Remote Control add to the already easy user experience and make it extremely easy to access premium online content and download and use LG Apps. And Smart Share is LG’s unique content sharing feature that works with USB, DLNA, and Media Link connections to make it extremely easy to transfer content from any compatible digital device to the TV. Through Smart Share, users can also take advantage of N-Screen, which lets them select their preferred viewing environment.

LG has high hopes that CINEMA 3D™ TV will account for two-thirds of the company’s 3D TV sales in the near future. Thanks to its Film Patterned Retarder (FPR) technology, CINEMA 3D™ TV helps to optimize the separation of images for the left and right eye to give viewers truly outstanding, blur-free and flicker-free 3D picture and a wide viewing angle. What’s more, CINEMA 3D™ TV doesn’t require expensive battery-operated glasses. The glasses of CINEMA 3D™ TV take images to new heights of brightness and clarity unmated by any movie theatre and makes it more comfortable than ever for viewers to enjoy 3D content in the company of family and friends.

LG also plans to further strengthen its range of premium and mid-range LED TVs as well as its offerings of pen touch PDPs, multivision Plasma 3D TVs and Plasma TVs of screen sizes of 50 inches or larger.

Front view of the LG Smart TV
SEOUL, Jan. 4, 2011 –- LG Electronics (LG) is to unveil its new range of Smart TV products at the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show (Booth #8205) in Las Vegas. With its simple Home Dashboard and Magic Motion Remote Control, LG’s Smart TV makes it easy to access a full array of premium online content, LG Apps and much more.
“LG Smart TVs embody the most advanced technology of any internet-linked TVs, providing users with endless entertainment options,” said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG Home Entertainment Company. “By listening to our consumers, we’ve made Smart TV so easy and simple to use that the whole family can enjoy tomorrow’s TV technology today.”

In addition, a drag and drop function makes the control even simpler and more convenient to use.

In addition, the custom-made LG Apps offer services ranging from lifestyle and education to entertainment and games that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
The TVs’ Smart Share function allows users to wirelessly stream content from compatible devices for viewing on their television screen. With Smart Share, users can also directly transfer stored content from their PC, and access simultaneous meta data – including actor profiles and plot synopses – about whatever movie they’re watching.
The platform also includes the Web Browser, so users no longer need to turn on their laptop to access the internet. With this feature, news, reviews and a host of other content can be viewed directly on the television screen.

LG BRINGS 3D THEATER TO CES 2011 WITH CINEMA 3D TV

With Flicker-Free Picture, Blur-Free Images and Comfortable Glasses,

LW6500 Makes 3D More Enjoyable for Watching with Family and Friends
A front view of LG CINEMA 3D TV model LW6500
SEOUL, Dec. 29, 2010 — At the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, LG Electronics (LG) will unveil the LW6500, a CINEMA 3DTM TV designed to take 3D TV to new heights of brightness and clarity.
“With the introduction of our innovative CINEMA 3DTM TV, LG is setting another standard for 3D entertainment,” said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG Home Entertainment Company. “For consumers who want to enjoy cinema-quality 3D at home with their family and friends, LG is now making that possible.”
Because LG’s CINEMA 3DTM technology does not require shutter glasses, images displayed on the LW6500 are entirely free of flicker. This innovation resulted in the LW6500 receiving a “Flicker Free” certification from Intertek and TÜV, two of the most respected inspection and certification bodies in the world. The LW6500 is the first 3D TV in the world to receive this designation.
The LW6500’s flicker-free images make 3D viewing more comfortable and far less likely to induce eye fatigue. Tipping the scales at just 16 grams, the included 3D glasses have no electrical parts and are free of electromagnetic waves and never need to be recharged. The glasses do not need to be synchronized so viewers can watch the LW6500’s screen from any angle. And because the glasses are far less expensive than shutter glasses, viewers can buy as many pairs as they need for family and friends.
The LW6500 also improves picture quality with 3D Light Boost, a thin film covering the screen that ensures 3D images are shown at maximum brightness. The LW6500 boasts all the advantages of LG’s Smart TV technology including access to LG Apps and a range of premium content via HuluPlusTM, YouTubeTM and many others.
The LW6500 will be rolled-out in select markets soon after its introduction at CES.
