SEOUL, Dec. 28, 2016 — LG Electronics (LG), a leader in Bluetooth headset technology, will unveil a number of new wireless, wearable audio products at CES® 2017. The lineup will be led by TONE Studio wearable speakers capable of delivering amazing 3D surround sound and TONE Free earphones with wireless earbuds that charge when docked in the companion neckband.

The LG TONE Studio (model HBS-W120) personal wearable speaker features four speakers – two full range on the top and two vibrating on the bottom – that give a personal surround sound experience when watching a movie, playing a video game or simply streaming music. Its sound is designed in collaboration with surround sound experts at DTS to bring a realistic theater-like sound for a cinematic experience wherever you may be. The TONE Studio features a Hi-Fi DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) that enhances sound quality by recreating audio content as accurately as possible. What’s more is that with Dual Play, you can connect two LG TONE Studio wearable speakers and share the sound from a movie, playlist or more.

TONE Free (model HBS-F110) is LG’s first wireless stereo product to come with wireless earbuds that charge whenever they are stored inside the neckband, making them easy to charge and carry. Not only does the neckband provide extra battery power and vibration alerts for incoming calls and text messages, it also provides a secure place to store the earbuds when not in your ears, making them less likely to lose. An optional charging cradle provides more power for those times when the neckband might not be convenient. And for even more freedom, TONE Free lets you go completely hands free and answer or ignore a call with voice commands for a real wireless stereo experience with no cords, no tangles and no hassles.

“LG has a rich legacy of innovating in the wearable audio market, and our products have become the standard by which all other earphones are judged,” said Michael Park, vice president of Innovative Personal Devices Business Division at LG Electronics. “We are committed to leading the way in this fast moving market by developing exciting new products which appeal to every music-loving and convenience-seeking individual.”

The TONE Studio and TONE Free are just two of the marquee products in LG’s Bluetooth headset lineup at CES 2017. Other models to be unveiled include TONE Infinim (model HBS-920) featuring LG’s Metal Layer Speaker Technology for clean, crisp sounds and TONE Ultra (model HBS-820), developed in collaboration with audio specialist JBL that features dual MEMS microphones for remarkable call clarity. LG’s entire lineup of wearable audio products including TONE Platinum, TONE Active+, TONE Pro and LG FORCE will be on display at CES 2017 from Jan. 5-8 in Booth #11100 in Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

LG Levitating Portable Speaker Hovers Magically in Midair While Delivering Great Audio Performance

The LG Levitating Portable Speaker model PJ9.

SEOUL, Dec. 27, 2016 — LG Electronics (LG) is showcasing its futuristic Levitating Portable Speaker (model PJ9) at CES® 2017, the proving ground for exciting technology from across the electronics industry. The mesmerizing wireless speaker hovers in place over the accompanying Levitation Station to deliver high-quality audio while making quite an impression with its eye-catching design. In addition to its striking looks, the versatile speaker gives users the ability to seamlessly play music, podcasts and other audio content in the home as well as outdoors.

The PJ9 creates its stunning visual effect using powerful electromagnets housed inside the Levitation Station to give the speaker its unique trait of being untouched by any surface or wires when playing. At the core is a 360degree omnidirectional speaker with turbine blade-inspired design and deep bass courtesy of the subwoofer embedded inside the Levitation Station. The PJ9 also features Dual Passive Radiator technology to reproduce flush mid-range tones and crisp highs.

When its 10-hour battery begins to run low, the smart portable speaker automatically descends to the Levitation Station and begins to charge wirelessly with no intervention from the listener and no interruption in the music. The PJ9 is IPX7 compliant in order to withstand any adverse weather condition when being used outdoors. For added convenience and versatility, Multipoint technology enables the speaker to connect to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously.

“Our latest addition to our growing lineup of premium wireless audio devices is not only eye-catching but also communicates the message that LG is serious about bringing something different to the table,” said Brian Kwon, president and CEO of LG’s Home Entertainment Company. “We are absolutely dedicated to exploring new concepts and to pioneering innovative designs for its advanced audio products for consumers around the world, and the PJ9 is the latest example of this commitment.”

LG’S MASS-TIER SMARTPHONE OFFERINGS FOR 2017 TO BE UNVEILED AT CES

Four New K Series and Stylus 3 Get Early Debut as Mid-range Segment Heats Up

The front and rear view of the K10, K8, K4 and K3

SEOUL, Dec. 22, 2016 — LG Electronics (LG) will unveil four new mass-tier K Series smartphones and a new Stylus 3 at CES® 2017 in Las Vegas, as the mid-range segment continues its strong growth as the market matures. The new mid-range devices are designed to bring popular, best-in-class technologies from LG’s more premium flagship smartphones, such as the 120-degree wide angle front camera lens and the rear fingerprint scanner.

LG’s updated K Series carries over the original philosophy that all customers do not want the same things in a smartphone. Rather than offering one main smartphone model and expecting customers to adapt, the K Series was designed with the diverse needs of consumers in mind.

The K10 delivers a best-in-class 5.3-inch HD In-cell Touch Display that delivers a superb viewing experience indoors or out. Its 5MP front camera with 120-degree wide angle selfie lens complements a premium, 13MP rear camera that has been employed in LG flagship G series devices. Other advanced features not usually available in smartphones in this category include a fingerprint scanner, a metallic U-frame for a sturdy but slim 7.9mm profile and 2.5D Arc Glass design.

The K8 features a 5-inch HD In-cell Touch display and delivers high-quality camera performance with 5MP in the front and 13M on the rear enhanced by LG’s intelligent UX features such as Auto Shot and Gesture Shot for selfies. Auto Shot automatically triggers the front camera’s shutter when a face is detected. Gesture Shot takes a selfie in response to a hand signal, eliminating the need to press the shutter button and shaking the phone at the most critical moment.

The K4 is equipped with a sensitive 5-inch In-cell Touch display, 5MP front and rear cameras as well as the popular Auto Shot and Gesture Shot features found in the K8. The attractive K4 offers a slim 7.9mm profile and removable 2,500mAh battery as well as a microSD slot for additional storage.

The smallest in the series, the K3 comes with a 4.5-inch On-cell Touch display, a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP lens in the front supported by Gesture Shot. With a microSD slot and 2,100mAh removable battery, the K3 offers many features unavailable on other competing smartphones in this category.

LG will also debut the third generation Stylus 3, the latest version of its mid-range Stylus smartphone (Stylo in the United States). The Stylus 3 delivers an improved writing experience with a 1.8mm diameter fiber-tip stylus to provide the feel and feedback of an actual pen when writing on the screen. The Stylus 3 also features a fingerprint scanner and enhanced UX with Pen Pop 2.0 as well as the popular Pen Keeper and Screen-off Memo. With Pen Pop 2.0, your memos are never out of sight and can be set to display on the screen whenever the stylus is removed. Pen Keeper displays a warning when the stylus strays too far from the phone, and Screen-off Memo enables note-taking directly on the screen even when the display is off.

“Our 2017 mass-tier, mid-range smartphones focus on giving our customers a wide variety of options and choices for their smartphone lifestyles,” said Juno Cho, president of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “What’s consistent in all our K Series and Stylus 3 devices is that they look and feel premium, offer replaceable batteries and all come with expandable memory slots, what customers consider key factors when buying smartphones in this category.”

Information regarding launch dates and markets will be announced locally in the weeks to come. Visitors to CES are encouraged to stop by LG’s stand to see the company’s newest mobile products for themselves (Las Vegas Convention Center, Booth #11100, Central Hall).

LG PUSHES SMART HOME APPLIANCES TO ANOTHER DIMENSION WITH DEEP LEARNING TECHNOLOGY

New Intuitive Technology Delivers Even Greater
Capabilities and Convenience to Our Lives

The logo of LG Electronics

SEOUL, Dec. 21, 2016 — To advance the functionality of today’s home appliances to a whole new level, LG Electronics (LG) is set to deliver an unparalleled level of performance and convenience into the home with deep learning technology to be unveiled at CES® 2017. LG deep learning will allow home appliances to better understand their users by gathering and studying customers’ lifestyle patterns over time. This process never ends and improves over time to provide customers with new solutions to everyday problems.

Robot Cleaner: Improved Performance Through Memory

Using multiple sensors and LG’s deep learning technology, LG’s newest robot vacuum cleaner will recognize objects around the room and react accordingly. By capturing surface images of the room, the intelligent cleaner remembers obstacles and learns to avoid them over time. It even recognizes electrical wires and slippers so they don’t end up jamming the roller brush and requiring human extraction assistance. LG robot vacuum can tell the difference between a human and a chair and asks the obstructing person to kindly move out of the way whereas it will simply maneuver around a chair.

Refrigerator: Smarter Convenience

LG’s deep learning is also enhancing the convenience LG’s smart refrigerator brings to consumers. By analyzing usage and eating patterns, LG’s deep learning refrigerator performs a variety of tasks by “predicting” the family’s activities based on their past behavior, such as automatically filling the ice tray at the time of the day when cold drinks are most in demand. In the summer, LG’s smart refrigerator can initiate the 4-stage sterilization system on its own to extend food life when it senses temperature and humidity conditions that may contribute to food spoilage.

Air Conditioner: Even Better Energy Saving And Performance

LG’s smart air conditioner equipped with LG deep learning technology analyzes the daily behavior patterns of its homeowners, including the parts of the home most occupied at certain times throughout the day. With this information, LG’s deep learning enabled air conditioner is able to assess how to provide comfortable temperatures quickly and efficiently, providing fast cooling to specific areas. During the weekend the living room may be the place to be, requiring the most cooling, but on weekdays the kitchen may be the center of activity.

Washing Machine: Optimal Performance In Any Situation

The new technology helps LG’s washing machine learn about the local environment and the user’s everyday activities in order to provide the advanced washing performance. For example, in areas where the water contains excessive calcium carbonate, LG’s smart washing machine adjusts the water temperature and the amount of water used to counter the effects of hard water on clothes. In areas where dust storms are common, the washing machine automatically adds another rinse cycle for even cleaner clothes.

“Deep learning technology is the next phase in the evolution of smart appliances, and as an industry leader, we have the responsibility of being an early mover,” said Song Dae-hyun, president of LG Electronics and Home Appliance & Air Solutions Company. “But even more important than the advanced capabilities of these appliances will be how companies behave when entrusted with data of this nature. At LG, we believe performance and convenience do not mean having to sacrifice security and privacy. They can and should exist simultaneously.”

LG’s advanced deep learning appliances will be on display at CES 2017 from Jan. 5-8 in Booth #11100 in Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

LG LEVERAGES DISPLAY EXPERTISE, ENTERS MEDICAL IMAGING MARKET

LG’s First Medical Imaging Devices Deliver High Resolution,
Accurate Images for Wide Range of Hospital Settings

LG Surgical Monitor 8MP and Clinical-Review-Monitor DXD.

SEOUL, Nov. 28, 2016 — Leveraging years of experience in advanced flat-panel display technology, LG Electronics (LG) is entering the growing medical imaging devices market with the introduction of clinical and surgical monitors designed to empower healthcare professionals to make accurate and informed life-saving decisions. The new monitors and an advanced new radiography device are being previewed this week at RSNA® 2016, the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America in Chicago.

LG 8MP Clinical Review Monitor

The LG 8MP Clinical Review Monitor is a 27-inch IPS monitor driving 3840 x 2160 pixels specifically designed to increase hospital staff efficiency by enabling streamlined work flows and multitasking. In addition to enhanced brightness levels, this monitor provides healthcare professionals with wide viewing angles, minimal color shift and accurate images. The monitor is Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) compliant, which means that grayscale tones are corrected to maintain image accuracy. Finely calibrated to ensure consistency across multiple devices, the monitor is equipped with backlight stabilization technology to guarantee stable luminance levels. Dynamic Sync Mode reduces input lag, while Flicker Safe and Reader Mode settings help reduce eye strain experienced by doctors and nurses working long shifts.

LG 8MP Surgical Monitor

The 27-inch LG 8MP Surgical Monitor was developed for a wide range of uses in the operating theater. In particular, surgeons who favor minimally invasive surgical techniques will benefit greatly as they make precise observations while viewing LG’s wide and highly accurate monitor. The unparalleled clarity of LG’s 8MP UHD panel helps doctors perform technically complex procedures and the monitor’s IPS technology enables multiple medical professionals to view the monitor from different angles with minimal color shift. Boasting brightness levels of up to 800 nits, LG’s surgical monitor is ideally suited for bright operating rooms. This monitor covers over 99 percent of the sRGB color space with additional space dedicated to the deep red spectrum, enabling doctors to more easily distinguish different types of tissue and blood vessels.

LG Digital X-Ray Detector for Radiography

In today’s hospitals, medical technology that is portable, lightweight and durable is key to providing outstanding patient care. Previewed at RSNA 2016, the LG Digital X-Ray Detector (DXD) produces high quality radiography images within seconds using its 16-bit image processing capabilities and a pixel pitch range as small as 127 micrometers, producing super-high-resolution images for radiographers and radiologists to quickly and accurately identify health issues. A magnesium and carbon fiber body make the LG DXD well-suited to serve patients in a range of medical settings and the IP41 rating for water and dust resistance helps assure optimal performance even when this DXD comes in contact with powders or liquids.

“LG’s entry into the medical imaging device market represents a bold new step in our strategy to expand LG’s position in the B2B market,” said Brian Kwon, president of LG Home Entertainment Company. “As a worldwide leader in the premium display industry, we are confident that LG technology will make a significant contribution to hospitals and medical facilities as they seek to improve the accuracy, quality and efficiency of their diagnostic procedures.”

The RSNA is an association of more than 54,000 radiologists, radiation oncologists, medical physicists and related scientists, promoting excellence in patient care and healthcare delivery through education, research and technological innovation (RSNA.org). LG’s new medical imaging devices are being demonstrated for the first time at RSNA 2016, which runs through Dec. 2. The clinical and surgical monitors will roll out in key markets soon thereafter. The LG DXD will be available in 2017.
