LG Accelerates Global Heat Pump Innovation Through Consortium-Based Research

Strengthening Customer Value Via International Research Collaboration and
Comprehensive Field Testing Across Diverse Climates Over Two Years

SEOUL, Nov. 28, 2025 — LG Electronics (LG) continues to accelerate the development of high-performance heat pump technologies through its Global Heat Pump Consortium, expanding research across diverse climate conditions – from cold-humid regions to extreme heat. With a sharpened focus on efficiency, dependability and field-validated performance, LG is paving the way for the new era of energy-conscious heat pump innovation.

As global demand for cleaner heating intensifies and regions such as Europe phase out fossil-fuel boilers to support decarbonization targets, heat pumps are emerging as a key technology in the transition to more sustainable climate control. However, conventional heat pump often see reduced performance in low temperatures or cold-humid conditions, limiting adoption in some markets. To overcome this challenge and accelerate global deployment, LG is ramping up collaborative research initiatives to develop solutions optimized for diverse climates.

In 2023, LG established the Consortium for Advanced Heat Pump Research (CAHR) in Alaska, joining forces with the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) and the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) to undertake R&D for high-efficiency cold-climate heat pump solutions. Since then, LG has expanded this collaborative network – now comprising 12 universities across five countries – and broadened its research into climate-specific heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) technologies.

These efforts are already yielding measurable results. At AHR Expo 2025 in the United States, LG and research partners from UAA and UAF presented findings based on long-term operational data from joint laboratories in Anchorage and Fairbanks, demonstrating improved low-temperature heating performance and efficiency by reducing thermal resistance in outdoor heat exchangers. The research contributed to the development of LG’s residential cold-climate heat pump, winner of the 2025 AHR Innovation Award in the Sustainable Solutions category.

Further momentum is coming from the European Consortium for Advanced Heat Pump Research (ECAHR), founded in June 2024. The consortium recently completed real-world testing of LG’s R32-based Air-to-Air Heat Pump (AAHP) in Norway. Results showed that energy use and carbon emissions reductions of approximately 60 to 80 percent, compared with an electric heater.1 These significant findings were published in the August and October issues of REHVA Journal,2 a respected publication for HVAC professionals.

To verify product performance in real-life environments, LG is conducting extensive field testing across seven global locations worldwide – including the United States, China, Norway and Saudi Arabia – spanning LG’s air-to-water heat pumps (AWHP), Multi V systems and residential air conditioners.

These field studies generate insights that directly influence product design. For example, observations that frost commonly accumulates on the lower section of outdoor heat exchangers in extreme cold led LG to introduce a redesigned structure that reduces frost buildup and enhances operational stability in severe winter conditions.

Strengthened by its global research collaborations and robust field-testing infrastructure, LG is advancing the development of next-generation heat pump technologies that deliver high efficiency and reliable performance in diverse climates. Recently, LG announced a partnership with King Saud University and Pusan National University to establish a tropical-climate testing facility in Saudi Arabia – reinforcing the company’s commitment to regionally optimized HVAC innovation.

“Through strengthened global research collaboration and extensive field validation, LG is accelerating the advancement of heat pump technology,” said James Lee, president of the LG ES Company. “We remain committed to delivering reliable, high-efficiency and sustainable heat pump solutions that meet the needs of customers around the world.”

Despite delayed recovery in consumer sentiment and intensifying market competition, he strengthened the leadership of flagship products while laying the groundwork for sustainable growth through continuous R&D. He also expanded HS Company’s business portfolio by advancing appliance subscription services, online channel growth and B2B business areas such as built-in appliances and component solutions.

Leadership Transition
William Cho will step down to support a healthy leadership transition after laying a strong foundation for sustainable growth during his four-year tenure as CEO.

Mr. Cho, who joined LG in 1987 and has dedicated 37 years to the company, expanded LG’s business beyond home appliances into sectors such as mobility and commercial spaces and established a mid- to long-term vision to transform LG into a Smart Life Solution Company that connects and extends customer experience across diverse spaces. His strategic direction prioritized performance in core businesses; growth in B2B, non-hardware and D2C areas; expansion into high-potential Global South markets; and exploration of new business domains – each becoming key milestones in LG’s future growth strategy.

LG Business Monitors: Industry-Specific Solutions for Today’s Evolving Work Environment

As digital transformation accelerates and hybrid work becomes the norm, business environments are evolving at an unprecedented pace. At LG, we recognize that this shift brings new challenges. Productivity is now intertwined with comfort, efficiency with user well-being and performance with environmental responsibility. In this new landscape, a one-size-fits-all display is as outdated as the floppy disk.

This is why we design our business monitors not simply as screens, but as industry-specific solutions shaped by the real needs of modern workplaces. From corporate offices to data-driven financial institutions, developer environments, creative studios and sustainability-focused public agencies, we deliver tailored display solutions that help organizations work smarter, faster and better.

For the Modern Corporate Office: Comfort That Drives Productivity

Today’s office is more connected and collaborative than ever, with video calls becoming a daily routine. With increasing screen time, the question becomes: how can a monitor make work easier, smarter and more comfortable?

Our business monitors put the user at the center. Models like the versatile LG UltraWide™ (34BA85QE) offer a fully adjustable stand – height, pivot and tilt – along with single-cable USB-C connectivity for a clean, organized desk setup. For meeting-heavy environments, the FHD 24/27BA850 models integrate a webcam and microphone, helping users stay ready for every call.

Across the lineup, features such as Reader Mode and Flicker Safe help reduce eye strain, supporting long-lasting comfort throughout the workday.

For Finance, Development and Creative Studios: Precision on an Expansive Canvas

Whether analyzing complex datasets, writing thousands of lines of code or crafting pixel-perfect creative work, professionals need monitors that show more – without compromising on quality.

The 5K2K LG UltraFine™ (40WT95UF) is designed precisely for this. Its expansive 21:9 screen with 5K2K (5120×2160) resolution offers about 33 percent more pixels than standard 4K, allowing users to compare dashboards, review code or work on layered visual content side by side without constant window switching.

Beyond space, the display’s performance is tailored for demanding creative environments. With 99 percent DCI-P3 coverage and VESA Certified DisplayHDR™ 600, it delivers the accurate color and detail essential for color grading and visual effects. A 120Hz refresh rate ensures smooth motion for refined workflows.

As the world’s first Thunderbolt™ 5 5K2K display, it also delivers ultra-fast data transfer, up to 96W power delivery and 5K2K display connectivity – all through a single cable. This next-generation interface supports efficient production of financial dashboards, control room visuals and enterprise-grade content, ensuring stability, scalability and seamless performance.

For the Public Sector: A Commitment to Sustainability
Government agencies and public institutions are increasingly prioritizing ESG, making sustainability a core requirement rather than an option. These organizations need technology partners who share the same values.

LG’s business monitors are designed with energy efficiency and responsible materials in mind. Many models carry global certifications such as ENERGY STAR® or TCO Certified, and we provide Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) reports for greater transparency. Reflecting these efforts, several models in our 2025 lineup – including the 24BA560, 27BA560 (FHD) and 27BA54QB (QHD) – have earned EPEAT Gold certification, meeting key public sector procurement standards.

A Partner for Your Business
By deeply understanding the needs of diverse industries, LG delivers monitor solutions that elevate productivity, enhance user well-being and support organizations’ long-term goals – including sustainability commitments.

We aim to be more than a technology provider. We strive to be a trusted partner in helping organizations build work environments where people can do their best work.

LG Strengthens Middle East Presence With Strategic Smart City Partnership in Dubai

Collaboration With Expo City Dubai Marks a Major Step in Company’s B2G Expansion

SEOUL, Nov. 25, 2025 — LG Electronics (LG) is accelerating its qualitative growth strategy in the Middle East by expanding its business-to-government (B2G) portfolio.

On November 19, LG signed a strategic partnership with Expo City Dubai – a city borne out of the Dubai government-backed 2020 World Expo – to collaborate on the development of a next-generation smart city. The agreement was signed by William Cho, CEO of LG Electronics and Ahmed Al Khatib, Chief Development and Delivery Officer, Expo City Dubai.

The partnership builds on discussions at the Korea–UAE Business Roundtable, where both governments agreed to deepen cooperation in AI-powered service development and AI infrastructure. It also further deepens LG’s long-standing relationship with Expo City Dubai, an innovation-driven, people-centric community and the new center of Dubai’s future. The company previously supplied LED signage for Expo 2020 and later committed to providing built-in home appliances – including refrigerators, dishwashers and ovens – for 3,000 households currently being built within the smart city.

As a provider of Space as a Service – offering holistic, space-optimized solutions – LG will support the project with innovative infrastructure across multiple areas, including AI data center cooling solutions and smart home systems powered by the company’s AI Home Hub platform.

Through this latest partnership, LG aims to strengthen its position as a comprehensive solutions provider across the B2C, B2B and B2G sectors in the Middle East.

“With our differentiated HVAC technologies and AI Home Hub-based smart solutions, we are committed to contributing to sustainable growth in the Middle East,” said William Cho, CEO of LG Electronics. “We will accelerate efforts to capture new B2B and B2G opportunities with solutions built around each country’s future direction.”

Accelerating B2B and B2G Growth Across the Middle East
LG continues to expand its presence in major markets such as the UAE and Saudi Arabia. The company has operated in the UAE for 30 years and manages regional headquarters overseeing operations across 75 markets in the Middle East and Africa.

In September, LG signed an MoU to supply cooling solutions for the Middle East’s largest net-zero AI data center – currently being built in Oxagon, the advanced industrial district within Saudi Arabia’s NEOM gigaproject. The agreement – made in partnership with ACWA Power, SHAKER Group and DATAVOLT – positions LG as a strategic contributor to next-generation data center infrastructure.

In Saudi Arabia, LG began its air conditioner partnership with SHAKER Group in 1995 and formed a joint venture in 2006, expanding its B2C and B2B businesses. In recent years, the company has expanded its participation in government-led initiatives, driving consistent growth in B2G revenue. Looking ahead, LG aims to increase the share of its B2B business to around 45 percent of total revenue by 2030.

Where Innovation Inspires Design: LG and SKS Shine at Design Week Mexico 2025

Every year, Design Week Mexico brings together top architects and interior designers to reimagine one of the country’s historic homes into the “Design House” – turning staid spaces into stunning showcases of sophistication and style. For 2025, both we (LG) and our ultra-premium built-in kitchen appliance brand, SKS, were named the exclusive home appliance brand partners for this landmark exhibition.

Under the theme of “Korean Precision with Mexican Soul,” we presented an elegant, real-world demonstration of how the warmth of Mexican craftsmanship can harmonize with our stylish, technology-driven solutions. Each space reflected our belief that thoughtful innovation can elevate modern design and meaningfully enhance how people live.

A Journey Where Design Meets Technology
Design House lies at the heart of Design Week Mexico, uniting creative talent to reinterpret everyday spaces. This year, we collaborated with four celebrated Mexican designers – Sebastián Ángeles, Guillermo Hernández, Juan José Nemer and Victoria Plascencia – to reimagine a traditional home through fresh artistic expression and future-ready livability.

Each finished room told its own compelling story with the common thread of “design meeting technology” woven throughout the entire house, and the sublime blend of Mexico’s rich cultural heritage and LG’s cutting-edge innovation visible in every space.

Reinterpreting the Bathroom: Ancient Rituals Meet Modern Wellness
Designer Sebastián Ángeles transformed the bathroom into a contemporary Temazcal – a modern tribute to the traditional Mesoamerican sweat lodge used for purification and healing. His immersive installation blended light, sound and scent to evoke a sense of renewal.

At the center stood LG Styler, symbolizing purification while adding contemporary sophistication to the space. “LG Styler is an innovative object that lets people refresh their clothes and feelings without any worries about odors or allergens,” said Ángeles.

The result was a seamless balance of pre-Hispanic aesthetics and futuristic minimalism, reshaping the bathroom into a personal sanctuary where wellness and premium design coexist.

Redefining Everyday Chores: The Laundry Room as a Space of Joy
With his signature mosaic craftsmanship, Guillermo Hernández reimagined the laundry room as an uplifting, design-driven environment. His reinterpretation encouraged visitors to reconsider laundry as not just a task, but a space that can spark delight.

At the center of the concept was the LG WashTower™, whose unified washer-dryer configuration saves space while delivering intuitive convenience. “The LG WashTower served as the centerpiece, helping to turn what is so often a neglected corner of the home into an uplifting place that people genuinely enjoy spending time in,” Hernández noted.

Through refined geometric inspiration and a calming color palette, the once-ordinary laundry area became a modern, functional and aesthetically enriched space. At the same time, the WashTower features an all-in-one configuration combining a washer and dryer stacked together, efficiently saving space for practical use.

Connecting Tradition and Modernity: The Kitchen as the Heart of the Home
Under the direction of Juan José Nemer, the kitchen served as an inspired bridge between Mexico’s heritage and the vibrancy of its contemporary lifestyle. Drawing on the concept of Casa Piedra, the space merged future-focused technology with a rich sense of nostalgia, creating an ideal environment for warm family moments and entertaining guests.

SKS built-in appliances, including the latest refrigerator and oven, feature minimalist exterior panels and refined finishes that contribute to a seamless and elevated kitchen interior. Its captivating design inspired the aesthetics of the whole kitchen space, inviting visitors to see, touch and interact with the SKS products in person.

“Frequently, there’s a moment of surprise when you open the door of an SKS product, as people often don’t realize they’ve been looking straight at an appliance the whole time,” said Nemer, noting the subtlety of SKS’s design, and the seamlessness with which each appliance blends in with the rest of the kitchen.

A Place to Connect: SKS “Aura Space” on the Terrace
On the Design House terrace, Victoria Plascencia’s Aura Space offered a serene setting for gatherings, reflecting the growing importance of outdoor areas as natural extensions of the home. Equipped with the SKS wine cellar and SKS dishwasher, the terrace demonstrated how performance and aesthetics can coexist beautifully.

The SKS wine cellar, capable of storing up to 113 bottles across three temperature zones, allowed Aura Space guests to enjoy premium wine and a memorable lifestyle experience, while the SKS dishwasher delivered optimal cleaning performance adapted to local water conditions – all within a sleek, minimalist design that added to the space’s ambiance and appeal.

Through this collaboration with Mexico’s design community, we reaffirmed our role as a lifestyle trend leader and our commitment to delivering solutions for a Better Life for All. LG and SKS home appliances stand not only as high-performance tools, but as design-forward companions that enrich everyday living and seamlessly complement modern spaces.

LG Signs Wi-Fi Standard Essential Patent License Agreement With Amazon

Agreement Highlights Company’s Global Leadership in Wi-Fi Standard Technologies

SEOUL, Nov. 20, 2025 — LG Electronics (LG) has signed a patent license agreement with Amazon, granting the use of LG’s Wi-Fi Standard Essential Patents (SEPs).

Under this agreement, Amazon obtains a license to use LG’s Wi-Fi SEPs in products utilizing Wi-Fi connectivity, including Amazon’s Echo devices, Fire TV Sticks and Fire Tablets.

LG is currently engaged in Wi-Fi SEP licensing discussions with several global companies that employ Wi-Fi standard technologies. The agreement with Amazon further underscores LG’s technological leadership and credibility in the global Wi-Fi standards domain.

SEPs refer to core patents that must be practiced when implementing an international technical standard – meaning any product using that standard inevitably relies on the patented technology.  Once a technology is adopted as an international standard by global standardization organizations, companies around the world incorporate it into their products. Recognition as an SEP signifies both the contribution to advancing the entire industry and its technological value.

LG holds one of the world’s strongest patent portfolios in key standard technology fields, including mobile communications, Wi-Fi, broadcasting and codecs. As of the first half of this year, LG owned 97,880 registered patents globally, about half of which are standard-related patents.* The company’s innovative patented technologies, applied across flagship products such as OLED TVs, washing machines and refrigerators, continue to reinforce its global competitiveness.

Looking ahead, LG aims to further strengthen its patent leadership in emerging technology areas such as 6G mobile communications, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications, artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum computing. In its vehicle solutions business, LG has also been recognized for leadership in augmented reality (AR) technologies, earning top honors for its pioneering AR navigation patent.

Since 2022, LG has formally included the licensing of patents and other intellectual property rights in its corporate charter – accelerating efforts to build sustainable value through IP-driven innovation.

“This agreement reaffirms LG’s global leadership in Wi-Fi standard technologies,” said Cho Hwi-jae, head of LG’s Intellectual Property Center. “We will continue to drive innovation worldwide by building on our industry-leading patent competitiveness.”

[Executive Corner] Design for Everyone: How LG is Making a “Better Life for All”

At LG Electronics, Better Life for All is more than a corporate vision or tagline – it’s a guiding principle that shapes everything we create. Central to our inclusive vision is a belief in universal design: the philosophy of crafting products and experiences to deliver convenience and comfort for everyone, regardless of age, gender or physical ability.

Committed to this philosophy, LG aims to go beyond functional innovation to provide unique lifestyle solutions that truly put people first. A deep understanding of our customers and the diverse environments in which they live is essential to this endeavor, which is why listening to the voice of the customer is such an integral part of our design process.

We have established systems to directly integrate real user feedback, especially from those with limited mobility – and seniors and children – into the product development stage. This includes operating an advisory group of people with disabilities and conducting in-depth usability testing. Both of these elements have proven instrumental in helping us to identify and minimize even the smallest points of user discomfort.

Designing with Empathy, Delivering with Purpose
Design at LG has always been about more than aesthetics. It’s about innovating with empathy to ensure usability, ease and enjoyment for all. For us, universal design is not just an outcome, but a mindset shared by all our teams – one that infuses human-centeredness into every decision, no matter how minor or inconsequential it may seem to someone looking in from the outside. From the first concept sketch to the final product experience, we view every touchpoint as an opportunity to make someone’s daily life simpler, safer and more enjoyable.

This approach requires us to design with people rather than for them. It challenges our teams to think beyond convention, to question what “easy to use” truly means and to continuously refine our technology to better meet and adapt to real human needs. When empathy is woven into the design process itself, innovation follows naturally. That is how we translate inclusivity from principle to practice.

Turning Philosophy into Practice: The Comfort Kit
Putting this philosophy into action, we launched the Comfort Kit – a series of affixable assistive kits designed to allow anyone to use our products easily, regardless of their gender, age or physical condition.

Some examples:

  • Easy Handle: Enables users with limited hand mobility to open washers and dryers with minimal effort.

  • Easy Ball: Helps those with reduced finger dexterity to manipulate control dials with ease.

  • Easy Hanger: Allows people using wheelchairs, or those who are shorter than average, to interact comfortably with the LG Styler.

  • Rotating Shelf: Improves refrigerator usability by making it easier to access hard-to-reach items.

We have presented inclusive design solutions that improve the usability of existing products, becoming the first in the home appliance industry to introduce 14 accessibility-enhancing kits. These Comfort Kit series, designed to remove the “one-size-fits-some” barrier that many customers have long faced, are also sustainably manufactured – reflecting our commitment to protecting the planet.

Recognition Beyond Design

Our efforts have not gone unnoticed. Globally, we are recognized as a model company for inclusive design.

We’ve shared our accessibility technologies and design philosophy at forums such as the CSUN Assistive Technology Conference, where the Comfort Kit series was welcomed by both consumers and organizations advocating for underrepresented communities.

We also showcased this work at important global exhibitions such as IFA and CES. Our dedication to good design earned us the “Design Awards Grand Slam” – winning top honors at all three major global design awards, Red Dot, iF, and IDEA.

These accolades matter to us, but more importantly, they reflect our deep conviction that inclusive design is not just a feature – it’s a responsibility.

Designing for a Better Tomorrow
For us at LG, realizing the Better Life for All vision means creating unique products and experiences that feel right for everyone, and can be enjoyed by anyone. We will continue to advance accessibility so that all customers can take advantage of everything that our products and services have to offer. No caveats or compromises, only convenience and comfort.

By Kim Soo-yeon, head of HS & ES Design Lab at LG Electronics

The brand’s 2025 rebrand from Signature Kitchen Suite to SKS has strengthened its identity and recognition, while continued participation in events such as KBIS has reinforced its leadership in design and innovation. The opening of the Chicago showroom marks another key milestone in this journey.

The third SKS showroom in the U.S. following the opening of the Napa Experience & Design Center showroom in Napa, California (opened in 2019) and Skyline Showroom in New Jersey (opened in 2023) – the Chicago venue extends SKS’s presence across North America. It offers unique experiences not only for design professionals but also for discerning customers seeking a modern, luxury lifestyle.

“The SKS Chicago Showroom is a pioneering space where customers can experience our vision for ultra-premium living and understand the philosophy that drives our brand,” said Chris Jung, president and CEO of LG Electronics North America. “This is not simply a venue for displaying our built-in luxury portfolio – it’s an immersive destination that merges design and technology with art, architecture and the experiential to create something truly unique for our U.S. customers.”

[Executive Corner] Partnering in Progress: 35 Years of Growth With Indonesia

As we celebrate LG’s 35-year journey in Indonesia, I am filled with both gratitude and optimism for what lies ahead. Our presence in this vibrant nation has been more than a business story – it has been a partnership built on shared growth, innovation and resilience.

Aligning With Indonesia’s Industrial Vision for Sustainable Growth
Indonesia’s manufacturing sector continues to be a vital driver of national progress, contributing between 17 and 20 percent of the country’s GDP and employing more than 20 percent of the workforce. The Industrial Services Roadmap 2025–2045 sets out a bold vision to expand industry, create future-ready jobs and integrate technology with sustainability – an ambition that closely aligns with LG’s own values and long-term direction.

Vice Minister of Industry Mr. Faisol Riza highlighted that in 2024, Indonesia’s Manufacturing Value Added (MVA) reached USD 265.07 billion (Rp 4,349 trillion), ranking 13th globally and first in Southeast Asia. This strong performance reflects the growing competitiveness of Indonesia’s industrial base and its crucial role in ensuring economic resilience.

Further underscoring this momentum, the Industrial Confidence Index (IKI) for September 2025 stood at 53.02, signaling continued expansion across 21 of 23 manufacturing subsectors, which together account for nearly 98 percent of non-oil and gas manufacturing GDP. Optimism about the coming months remains high – driven by confidence in policy direction, innovation and industrial strength.

Over Three Decades of Milestones: Building a Fully Integrated Operation
At LG, we are proud to have grown alongside Indonesia, becoming a trusted partner in its industrial and technological transformation. Over the past three and a half decades, we have invested in local capabilities, championed innovation and embedded sustainability into every aspect of our operations – all to enhance lives and strengthen industries.

Our manufacturing facilities in Tangerang and Bekasi produce a wide range of products, from refrigerators and washing machines to monitors, commercial displays and televisions – serving both domestic and regional markets. Last month, we expanded our production capabilities through a strategic partnership in air conditioner manufacturing, operated by a partner company. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to advancing Indonesia’s industrial ecosystem.

With a network of over 190 service centers across the archipelago and strong collaborations with local distributors and partners, we ensure that LG products and services reach customers in every region.

Today, our locally self-sufficient operation – spanning R&D, manufacturing, marketing and customer care – empowers more than 4,000 local talents and supports national priorities such as Making Indonesia 4.0 and the Industrial Services Roadmap. Together, we are driving continuous innovation, operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Beyond Business: Empowering Communities and Driving Inclusive Growth
Our commitment to Indonesia goes well beyond business. Through our CSR platform, LG Loves Indonesia, we focus on sustainability, education and community well-being to create meaningful and lasting impact.

Under LG Loves Green, we promote energy-efficient living and environmental responsibility – planting 32,000 trees and supporting recycling initiatives for fabric, food waste and e-waste to raise public and youth awareness.

LG Loves Children enhances early childhood literacy in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Culture, publishing and distributing two series of LG Children’s Books nationwide. We also established three libraries in low-literacy regions, each offering more than 350 curated titles to inspire learning.

Through LG Loves School, we help vocational students build practical skills for future careers by upgrading school labs with LG products and training tools.

Meanwhile, LG Loves and Cares supports local communities through initiatives like Lebaran Sehat, which provides food packages during festive seasons, as well as product donations that improve daily living standards.

Each of these initiatives reflects our belief that true progress must be inclusive – empowering individuals and uplifting communities across Indonesia.

Looking Ahead: A Shared Future of Sustainable Growth
As we look toward the future, LG’s dedication to Indonesia remains steadfast. We deeply value the trust and partnership we have built with the government, industry peers and the Indonesian people. Our approach – anchored in local manufacturing excellence, technology transfer and environmental stewardship – demonstrates our long-term commitment to inclusive and sustainable growth.

Together, under the shared spirit of Life’s Good, we will continue to create a better, more sustainable tomorrow for all.

Focused on leveraging the combined expertise of LG Group affiliates, this effort brings together the four companies driving the Group’s automotive components business.

The meeting took place on November 13 at LG Twin Towers in Yeouido, Seoul, during the visit of Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, to Korea. Participants included William Cho, CEO of LG Electronics; Jeong Cheol-dong, CEO of LG Display; Kim Dong-myung, CEO of LG Energy Solution; and Moon Hyuk-soo, CEO of LG Innotek, alongside Mathias Vaitl, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Korea and other senior executives.

Discussions centered on strengthening cooperation to support Mercedes-Benz’s vision for the future of mobility – including the transition to electric vehicles (EVs) and the establishment of a flexible, sustainable global production network driven by digitalization and automation.

In line with this shared vision, LG Electronics, LG Display, LG Energy Solution and LG Innotek presented their next-generation solutions in EV components, batteries, displays and autonomous driving sensors, seeking new ways to strengthen integration under the One LG Solution framework.

The four LG Group affiliates already work closely with Mercedes-Benz across multiple core areas of mobility technology:

By combining our strengths, we’re creating vehicles that will set new global standards.”

“We will further solidify our strategic partnership with Mercedes-Benz by leveraging our core competencies in the vehicle components business – from our user experience-centric value proposition to our integrated SDV solution portfolio and globally proven technology and reliability,” said William Cho, CEO of LG Electronics.

[On the Job] A Day With Charles Lonergan, Manufacturing Director at LG’s Tennessee Smart Factory

Tucked in the heart of Tennessee, LG’s smart factory is a modern marvel – designed for speed, precision and innovation. At the helm is Charles Lonergan, Manufacturing Director, whose steady leadership keeps this high-tech operation running smoothly. We spent a day with Charles to learn more about his role, the technology behind the factory and what it takes to lead one of LG’s most advanced production sites.

From Inspection to Innovation: A Day in the Life
Charles oversees the production of LG’s front load washers, top load washers, dryers and the sleek WashTower. His day starts the same way, every day – with a walk across the factory floor.

“Each day starts with a walk-through,” he says. “We check equipment, review workflow and make sure everything’s set to hit our production targets.” Mornings are all about quality. Charles and his team review every production line to ensure each unit meets LG’s standards. As the day goes on, meetings shift focus to what’s ahead: upcoming products, refining processes and tracking performance metrics. “No two days are exactly the same,” Charles says. “But the goal always is – run better, solve faster and never stop improving.”

A Fully Integrated Manufacturing Ecosystem
One of the things that makes this plant unique is how much happens under one roof. From injection molding and metal stamping to painting and packaging, nearly every part of the process is handled on-site.

“This level of vertical integration gives us complete control over quality and timing,” Charles explains. Take the unmanned logistics warehouse, for example – it stores large, molded components and uses smart trolleys to move them through the facility. The system tracks inventory, controls curing time and ensures parts arrive at the next station right when they’re needed.

High-Tech Meets Hands-On Training
With a factory powered by automation – Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) and AI-based inspection tools – keeping everything running smoothly takes serious know-how.

“To support all this tech, we built hands-on training programs from the ground up,” Charles says. “That’s been key to stabilizing operations and helping our team work confidently with advanced systems.” Ongoing training is a must, especially in an industry where technology keeps evolving. The Tennessee team is making sure its skills evolve just as quickly.

Quality Built Into Every Step
At this factory, quality isn’t a final check – it’s built into every phase. The team uses a three-stage process: raw material checks, 100 percent inspection of each unit for function and appearance, and final sampling before shipment. AI vision systems help verify precise fastening. Multi-camera setups monitor each unit’s key checkpoints. These technologies help catch errors early, before they become issues down the line.

Innovation From Day One
This factory was built to be smart from the start. That gave Charles and his team the chance to design workflows around automation and robotics – rather than adding them later. Robots handle complex or physically demanding tasks. AGVs and AMRs navigate the space using QR codes and LiDAR. Workers, meanwhile, focus on higher-value responsibilities, making the whole operation more efficient and safer. “Robotics aren’t just for show,” says Charles. “They’re woven into our everyday workflow.”

Pride in Progress: From Construction to High-Volume Production
Charles has been with the Tennessee plant since day one – literally.

“I’ve been here since before the first wall went up,” he says. “Now we’re producing over 300 units per hour. That’s something to be proud of.” The journey hasn’t always been easy – ramping up operations and fine-tuning quality took time. But every challenge helped the team grow stronger and more agile. “Continuous improvement is just how we operate,” Charles says. “We’re always thinking about what’s next.”

Work, Life and Balance
Leadership at this level is demanding – but Charles makes it a point to protect his time, both at work and at home. “I rely on daily planning, time-blocking and a strong support system,” he says. “Time with family is just as important as hitting production goals. You can’t give your best at work if things aren’t balanced outside of it.”

Looking Ahead
Charles’s story is part of a bigger picture – LG’s commitment to smarter, more sustainable manufacturing. With his eye on the future and a passion for progress, Charles is helping lead LG’s Tennessee Smart Factory into a new era of intelligent production.

These initiatives show that Life’s Good is more than just a slogan. It’s about creating real experiences that connect people across cultures, celebrate optimism and make technology meaningful in everyday life.

As we celebrate 35 years in Indonesia, we remain committed to bringing innovation directly to communities – enriching daily living with smart, intuitive design and a spirit of togetherness that makes Life’s Good for everyone.

As the Official Home Appliance Partner, SKS Captivates
Visitors With a Stunning Showcase of Elegant Built-In Kitchen Solutions

SEOUL, Nov. 7, 2025 — LG Electronics (LG) showcased its ultra-premium built-in kitchen appliance brand, SKS, at Design Week Mexico 2025, one of Latin America’s largest design festivals. As the exclusive home appliance brand partner of this year’s event, SKS successfully elevated its brand presence in the region, reaffirming its leadership in the global luxury built-in market.

At Design House, the flagship exhibition of Design Week Mexico, visitors were invited to experience the full SKS lineup of ultra-premium built-in kitchen appliances, including the SKS refrigerator, freezer, oven, cook top, wine cellar and dishwasher. Also on display were LG’s premium home appliances, such as the InstaView™ MoodUP™ refrigerator, QuadWash® dishwasher, WashTower™ laundry solution and Styler clothing care system.

Design House transforms iconic local mansions and historic buildings into creative design spaces, each designed through collaboration between leading global architects, interior designers and brands. Spanning approximately 1,126 square meters, this year’s exhibition presented visitors with diverse, trend-forward inspiration for designing refined living environments.

Held under the theme “Designed in Mexico,” the 2025 edition of Design Week Mexico celebrated the artistry and craftsmanship of Mexican design. Reflecting this spirit, SKS’s exhibition theme, “Korean Precision with Mexican Soul,” captured the harmony between SKS’s stylish, technologically-advanced design philosophy and the warmth and creativity of Mexican craftsmanship. The Design House exhibition, which ran until November 2, drew strong interest from professional designers, students and the general public alike.

By expanding direct engagement with customers across the globe, SKS continues to strengthen its reputation as a specialist built-in brand and its position in the premium appliance market. Earlier this year, SKS served as the exclusive home appliance sponsor of the Food & Wine Classic 2025 in Aspen, Colorado – an event attended by more than 4,000 chefs, culinary professionals and visitors. In Seoul, LG recently opened SKS Seoul, a newly renovated showroom offering visitors a complete experience of SKS’s latest ultra-premium built-in kitchen innovations.

LG rebranded its ultra-premium built-in line earlier this year, transitioning from SIGNATURE KITCHEN SUITE to SKS. The refreshed identity, designed to be more modern and intuitive, has enhanced brand recognition and accelerated growth in the premium market. Despite the new name, SKS continues to embody the True to Food philosophy that has defined the brand since its inception.

“At Design Week Mexico, we had the unique opportunity to collaborate with world-class architects and designers to create an inspiring space – one brought to life by our stylish and sophisticated SKS solutions,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, president of the LG Home Appliance Solution Company. “LG will continue to strengthen engagement with customers around the world and further establish SKS as a global leader in the ultra-premium built-in kitchen appliance market.”
